Joining DVF requires proof that your ancestor was at Valley Forge as part of the Continental Army between December 19, 1777 and June 19, 1778.  This “DVF Ancestors Roll” is the available list of the patriots our members have used to join our society.  This list may NOT be used as proof for your application.  Please note that this is NOT a comprehensive list of those who served. ​Another list exists, the Muster Roll, and is maintained by the Valley Forge Park Alliance.  The Valley Forge Park Alliance and the Society of the Descendants of Washington’s Army at Valley Forge are two separate entities.  Even though your ancestor may be shown on the “Muster Roll”, you still need to provide proof of service and that patriot is your ancestor. 

NOTE: DVF conducts research to verify the service eligibility of each patriot on applications. Further research may reveal that qualifying service belongs to a different patriot with the same name. The “DVF Ancestors Roll” is based on current available information. If you notice your ancestor’s name is missing and should be included, please send a copy of the original DVF Certificate with the approving signature to Commander-in-Chief Wayne Allen Courreges, Jr. via our
